Ghana’s Interior Minister, Henry Quartey, has renewed the curfew hours for Bimbilla Township, effective Friday, August 2, 2024.

The new curfew will run from midnight to 4:00 a.m.

The extension follows a recommendation from the Northern Regional Security Council and is enacted by Executive Instrument (EI).

The move aims to address ongoing security concerns in the region.

In a statement, Quartey urged local Chiefs, opinion leaders, and residents to exercise restraint and use nonviolent methods to promote peace.

He emphasised the importance of community cooperation in maintaining stability.

Additionally, arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons are banned in Bimbilla and surrounding areas.

Individuals found in possession of such items will face arrest and prosecution.

The government continues emphasising the need for calm, peaceful means to address the community’s challenges.
