Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo


Nana Akufo-Addo, the president of the Republic of Ghana is paying a state visit to China from Aug. 31 to Sept. 6 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, while attending the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

Akufo-Addo, 74, graduated from the University of Ghana with a bachelor’s degree in economics, and qualified as a lawyer in Britain and Ghana. He has served as minister of justice cum attorney general as well as foreign minister before wining the election on behalf of the New Patriotic Party and was sworn in as president in January, 2017.

He was on an official visit to China as foreign minister in June 2006, and accompanied the then-President John Kufuor to the 2006 FOCAC Beijing Summit later in November.

This marks the first time that Akufo-Addo pays a state visit to China as president. Enditem
