The Executives of the Women’s Parliament under the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Women’s Commission, has presented assorted items to children of the Princess Marie Louise Hospital (Children’s Hospital) in Accra.

The items were five boxes of vita milk, two boxes of Perk biscuits, two boxes of king cracker biscuits, two boxes of milky magic biscuits, four boxes of fruity drink, one pack of cotton wool, 20 packs of toilet roll, one box of sanitizer and two boxes of antiseptic.

Ms Sadia Mohammed, the SRC Women’s Commissioner of GIMPA, who presented the items to the management of the Hospital, said the donation was to show love to the children, who patronise the services of the Hospital.

She said it also formed part of the forthcoming Mother’s Day celebration, which falls on Sunday, May 13.

She said the donation which they intend to make an annual one, is to support the children and the Hospital with their widow’s mite.

Ms Mohammed, whose tenure of Office as the Women’s Commissioner would end this academic year, told the GNA that they were in the process of renovating a baby nursery to accommodate the babies and the nannies of female students on campus.

“We will provide some toys, court sheets and other necessary items that will make their stay before their mother comes for them enjoyable and also HENKOQ Group of Companies is supporting with the renovation with a flat screen television set and a freeze,” she added.

Dr Mame Yaa Nyarko, Head of Clinical Service, Children’s Hospital, receiving the items commended the ladies for their efforts and show of love to the children.

She said the Hospital was in the process of expanding its Malnutrition and Rehabilitation Units, a specialised unit, for children and appealed to corporate Ghana to support.

She said currently, the Hospital was in need of computers, furnishings and paints to renovate the structure.

The students took the opportunity to visit some of the children on admission at the Malnutrition Ward and distributed drinks and biscuit to them.
