Norton Kingwill, the Century Bottling Company Managing Director confirmed the development while speaking at the closing ceremony of the National Copa Coca Cola championship at Boma grounds in Hoima over the weekend.

?We have for many years been asked what we can do for the development of girls football in Uganda after these years of igniting boys? football talent, so starting next year, we shall come in for girls soccer,? said Kingwill.

Kingwill said it may not necessarily mean that the two events will be run at the same time and venues, but that the sponsorship will be there for both.

?There is wonderful girls? football talent and I am sure together, we can form better national teams of girls to represent Uganda in international tournaments,? Kingwill added.

The ten-year old girls? soccer championship that started with only five schools Kawempe Muslem, Masaka SS, Bweranyangi Girls, Nangwa SS and hosts Wakitaka SS in the Jinja inaugural event in 2005 has grown to 66 teams as per the just concluded edition at Ntare in Mbarara.
