The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has received a valuable donation from the German Federal Government, consisting of a mobile workshop van and 3,000 torchlights.
The donation aims to enhance border security and operational efficiency.
The donation, facilitated through the German Federal Police, underscores the robust bilateral relations between Ghana and Germany, emphasizing mutual support for Ghana’s developmental objectives.
During the handover ceremony, Hon. Naana Eyiah, Deputy Minister for the Interior, expressed gratitude for the donation and affirmed Ghana’s commitment to utilize and maintain the resources effectively for maximum benefit.
“We appreciate the German Federal Government’s generosity and commitment to bolstering Ghana’s efforts in border security,” Hon. Eyiah remarked.
German Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Daniel Krull, praised the GIS for their dedication and highlighted the significance of the partnership between GIS and the German Federal Police in strengthening border management capabilities.
Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi, acknowledged the strategic importance of the mobile workshop van and torchlights. He emphasized that these assets would enhance operational capabilities, particularly in remote areas, and support training and capacity-building initiatives for GIS personnel.
The donation is expected to significantly enhance GIS’s capacity to secure and manage Ghana’s borders, underscoring the effective collaboration between Ghana and Germany in security and development.
