Mr Albert Kofi Owusu, General Manager of Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday called on Management and Staff to adhere to leadership with integrity by holding everyone accountable to drive the needed change for the agency.

“The year 2019 presents us with another great opportunity to work towards re-positioning the brand GNA, which is the nation’s foremost wire service network and the most reliable and respected news service provider on the continent and beyond,” Mr Owusu stated in a New Year message to staff and stakeholders.

Mr Kofi Owusu explained that it would take a renewed commitment by all stakeholders including; government, National Media Commission, Board of Directors, Management, Staff as well as other state and non-state actors for the Agency to achieve its great heights.

”I commit to start with leadership with integrity, there will be no compromises on work ethics across all departments, regions, districts and units holding everyone accountable to drive the change,” The GNA General Manager stated.

“We all know the problem be-devilling this once great news agency. We all know what to do in order to bring about the change. Therefore, I expect total commitment to the cause of change which will sweep through the Ghana News Agency,” he said.

Mr Owusu said as part of the change process, “We will have regular meetings with all staff where the state of the Agency would be shared and discussed, share information about our progress, challenges and achievements”

He said various discussions and planning had taken place at Management level and would be made known to the entire team in due course.

He said key issues under consideration were “our staffing and equipment needs, office refurbishment, at both head office and regional as well as district levels, internally generated funds activities and protecting assets of the Agency”.

“We are in the business of providing news to our customers, and in this era of rapid technological changes, speed and accuracy will continue to be our essential requirements for our news operations.

“We are in discussion with Information Technology companies to provide the Agency essential technological support for its news operations across the country, re-design the GNA website to make it more attractive and user-friendly in order to attract more consumers of the agency’s services,” he said.

Mr Owusu said, “Management commits to working to ensure provision of needed tools and support to aid our work within the limits of our resource capacity.

“Once again, let me assure you of my commitment to lead the change that will turn around the fortunes of GNA, God being our helper”.
