To the Association, the end result of that investigation will help shape policies on the medical management of their political leaders including Presidents and other dignitaries.

Since the death of the former president, many people, groups and organisations have called for an investigation into the death of the President with others requesting for an autopsy report on the actual cause of his death.

The President of the GMA, Dr. Kwabena Opoku Adusei who also added his voice ad that of the GMA noted that the call is in the right direction and that it will also help put to rest speculations surrounding the events which occurred before the demise of the President.

According to him, the fact that the late president’s death sparked lots of rumours and controversies, there is the need to know as a medical association so that if there are any lapses, it will help us inform policies so that they can do things better and to also tell Ghanaians the medical cause of death to abate the rumours.

Dr. Opoku Adusei, however averred that the GMA has no intention to offend the sensitivity of the family of the late President, but their call is in the best interest of Ghana as President Mills was the leader of the country for three-and-a-half years before his death.

It could be recalled that, on the day of the president’s burial, Dr Cadman Mills made public statements indicating that the president died from massive stroke. however, the GMA noted that such explanation could not be accepted, but that their call as medical association was in recognition of the fact that late president Mills was the President of the Republic.

Dr. Kwabena Opoku Adusei mentioned that the President is not an ordinary person. “The President is an asset for everybody so we must draw the line properly.?
