Mr Dasman Issifu Laary, Regional Manager for Wa office of the Ghana News Agency was adjudged the best energy reporter on Saturday in Accra at the maiden edition of the Ghana Energy Awards.
Mr Laary beat his contenders: Mr Obrempong Yaw Ampofo of Citi FM and Mr Kwasi Boadi Ntiamoah, a freelance Writer to win the coveted award and was presented with a plaque and a citation.
The article that won him the prestigious award was on the topic: “Underrepresentation of women on Oil and Gas boards is a concern”.
The event was initiated by Energy Media Group and is on the theme: “Energy for National Development: 60 years and beyond.”
It is aimed at recognising the achievements, success, efforts, innovation and excellence of corporate entities as well as individuals in the energy sector.
It is also to celebrate the tremendous work of industry players competing in various categories.
The award was to recognise individuals and corporate bodies in 20 categories, which was endorsed by the World Energy Council- Ghana, Ministry of Energy and its agencies.
Mr Dasman in an interview with the Ghana News Agency commended the organisers for award and pledged to work assiduously through his reportage to bring to bear the challenges in the energy sector for action and improvement.
He dedicated the award to all who helped in diverse ways especially colleague media practitioners in the country.
