Godfred Donsah says his debut goal for Bologna has provided the elixir to take the Serie A by storm this season.

The 18-year-old midfielder signed for the Rossoblu in the summer from relegated Cagliari but injuries early on this season made it difficult for him the explode.

First, it was a shoulder injury on his debut and then series thigh injuries which denied him senior Ghana call-ups on two occasions.

Donsah, likened to Michael Essien in his prime, had to wait until his sixth appearance for Bologna to score his first goal for the club.

That assurance on 14 minutes which sealed a 2-0 win at Hellas Verona and moved them out of the relegation zone.

“It’s a goal that ended the game and moreover gave victory to the team. It boosts my confidence and this is absolutely what I need to make an impact in Serie A,” Donsah told GHANASoccernet.com.

Donsah heaped praise on new coach Roberto Donadoni who has registered two straight wins to boost their survival chances.

“It’s great to be out of relegation zone and things are getting better under him (Donadoni) because of our everyday hard work and pressure.”
