It is the second time the oil marketing giant is supporting the event.

The 2019 Kwahu Easter Mountain Marathon, is the second edition, since its inception last year and it is expected to attract over 1,000 athletes this year.

The 42.2 kilometer race would commence at Nkawkaw, through Obomeng, Mpreaso, Nkwakia, Abetifi and end at the Kwahuhene Palace, Abene.

Mr. Joe Hammond Corporate Affairs Executive of Ghana Oil Company (GOIL), said his outfit has been a partner of the event since it’s inception and they were willing to support the 2019 Edition as well.

He said, GOIL was associated with energy and one requires good energy to compete well in a Marathon.

Speaking at the launch of the event, at the Palace of the Kwahuhene, in Abene, Kwahu, Nana Baffour Agyare Yeboah Asuamah, Manwerehene of Kwahu Traditional Council (KTC), said the Kwahu Easter Mountain Marathon (KEMM), would serve as a major tool for boosting tourism in the area.

He said, Kwahu was major tourism spot in the country and there was the need to open the area up for people to explore through sporting activities such as the Marathon.

“We are delighted with this Marathon which is in the second year and there seem to be growing interest in the event for both local and international athletes.

“We are looking forward to a greater event this year and we would use it as an opportunity to tell the world about tourism potentials,” he added.
