Zambia’s infrastructure development has been enhanced by its good relations with China, Zambian Energy Minister Matthew Nkhuwa said on Tuesday.
“China and Zambia are enjoying good bilateral relations; there is need to strengthen the cooperation with the Asian country,” Nkhuwa told Xinhua in an interview.
The two countries have enjoyed cordial relations dating back to the 1970s, the minister said, pointing to some jointly funded major infrastructure projects.
Nkhuwa commended Chinese enterprises such as the Avic International Corporation Construction Company for their work in Zambia.
Avic built city roads and police housing units in Chingola, a mining district.
Richard Mulenga, a Chingola resident, said the road works will attract more investment in the mining district.
“A lot of people are happy seeing most roads that were impassable in good state,” he said, noting that youths that work with the Chinese firm will acquire more skills. Enditem
