Construction works on the Merewa- Nkronua road in the Bibiani-Anhwaiso-Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region has begun, after the government through the Member of Parliament, Mr Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu, cut the sod and handed it over to the Contractor.
The 21-kilometre road from Asawinso ‘A’ to Nkronua junction, which is under the Ghana COCOBOD Roads is being undertaken by Memphis Metropolitan Limited and expected to be completed in 24 months.
The Member of Parliament who is also the Regional Minister, officially introduced the Contractor to the traditional authorities and the beneficiary Communities and said Merewa- Nkuronua road had become a death trap because of its unsafe, winding and undulating alignments, causing problems for especially farmers in the area.
He said “President Akufo Addo’s government would fix it for the citizens to enjoy motorable roads.
The MP said through his lobbying skills, multiple road projects were undertaken in the Constituency, with many more to come in the near future in fulfilment of President Akufo Addo’s ‘’Year of Roads’’
Mr. Aboagye -Gyedu said the construction of the road would create both skilled and unskilled jobs for the people in the area, and urged the traditional authorities and the people in the area to provide the needed support to the Contractor.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Alfred Amoah said Merewa- Nkuronua road was a problem for the Assembly and therefore, thanked President Akufo Addo “for giving them their own share of the national cake”.
He urged the people to reciprocate the gesture by giving the MP and President Akufo-Addo the needed support and cooperation.
