The Ministry of Information will inaugurate a series of regional town hall meetings and exhibitions in Accra on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.
The initiative aims to promote citizen engagement and enhance participatory governance across all 16 regions of Ghana.
The first event will take place at the Teachers’ Hall in Accra under the theme “Regional Revitalization: Government’s Commitment to Growth, Development and Prosperity.”
The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Daniel Titus Glover, will provide updates on various developmental projects undertaken by the Akufo-Addo and Bawumia administration.
Other key speakers include Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam and Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar.
The exhibition will feature displays from all 29 districts within the Greater Accra Region, highlighting local projects and initiatives.
The town hall meetings are designed to bring government officials, youth groups, union representatives, and community leaders together to discuss pressing governance and economic issues, share ideas, and gather feedback for policy improvement.
The Ministry’s effort to decentralize government communication is intended to bring governance closer to citizens, addressing key areas such as healthcare, infrastructure, and economic empowerment.
Government appointees will respond to questions from journalists and the public, facilitating a transparent dialogue on ongoing projects and policies.
Following the Accra launch, the Ministry will continue the regional town halls across 15 regions.
The series will culminate in a national forum where feedback and recommendations from all areas will be consolidated and presented to the government for action.
Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar expressed optimism that these town hall meetings will strengthen the connection between citizens and the government, fostering collaboration and driving progress throughout Ghana.
