Minister of Health, Alban K. Bagbin, has issued a stern warning to health workers in the public sector the government will no longer tolerate unjustified strikes.According to him, health workers wishing to go on strike should rather resign from the profession altogether and later reapply or be ready to go through the appropriate channels to have their grievances addressed.
Alban Bagbin, who was addressing health workers in the Upper West region earlier this week stated government will not pamper doctors who refuse to render their services to the public because of their grievances.According to him, health sector workers who remain on strike while patients suffer could be likened to someone going in for ?blood money?.
But consultants at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi who have withdrawn their services since Monday say the minister?s comments were unfair and unfortunate. They insist on holding back services they render to the hospital until their unpaid allowances for about 8 months are paid to them.
