The Miners, coming into the match from a CAF Champions League exit to Algeria’s MO Bejaia, looked lackadaisical in their approach to the game.

“I’m happy that we have picked a point in this encounter because Chelsea have always proved difficult in our matches.” Coach Bashir Hayford told the GNA Sports after the match.
Chelsea piled up pressure on their opponents in the first half, creating some decent chances in the 15th and 16th minutes which were all squandered.
Unable to come out of their shelves, Ashgold would sit back for the visitors to make another dangerous incursion for a goal in the 35th minute.
An unmarked Sadick Adams intercepted a pass in the midfield, took on the Ashgold defence in a solo effort, however, he would was denied a goal with a brilliant save from goalie Robert Dabuo.
The Miners came strongly into the picture in the second, bringing on Frederick Quayson for Emmanuel Osei Baffour, while Anthony Yerful substituted Alhassan Nuhu.
Having taken control of the game in the last quarter, Ashgold resorted to long-range shots to break the resolute Chelsea defence.
Substitute Yerful on three occasions nearly fetched a goal for the homers from long shots, but the agility of Chelsea goalie, Ahmed Tijani, saw his efforts thwarted.
