Charles Akunor, Head Coach of Ashanti Gold SC has heaped praises on his players’ after their impressive run of form in the second round of the season.
The miners defied all odds to hand Accra Hearts of Oak their first home defeat this season with a 1-0 victory at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.
In a post-match interview with the press, coach Akunor said his team is tactically disciplined and that accounts for their recent run of form.
“We had a fantastic game today, I must say that I have great students who listen to me very well. We knew what Hearts of Oak are capable of doing, so strategically we planned to frustrate them and it worked perfectly for us.
“I am happy for this performance, we played really well today and I am proud of myself as a Coach, I came to the ‘Wembley’ and won convincingly over Accra Hearts of Oak.
“We totally outplayed them and we dominated in every area of the game. I can only be proud as a coach.
“We are working hard to transform the team, I always push them to the limit and they give their all. I am very happy with this team, it’s difficult to get this group of players. They listen to everything we say and we can only be proud.
“When I got in, there were a lot of problems in the team, I met the supporters and the management, I tried to let them understand the situation of the team. Now everybody is working hard to ensure that we are safe at the end of the season”, said Coach Akunor.
