GPL giants Accra Hearts of Oak present trophies to Gbese Mantse 


Ghana Premier League (GPL) giants, Accra Hearts of Oak on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on Nii Ayi Bonte II, the Gbese Mantse at his palace in Accra.

The Club used the opportunity to present to the Gbese Mantse, trophies won in the 2021/2022 season. 

Hearts presented the 2021/2022 President’s Cup and the MTN FA Cup, which they won last month after beating Bechem United by a goal margin to the Gbese Mantse. 

Accra Hearts of Oak having struggled last season were able to wrap up the season with two trophies after missing out in the Ghana Premier League.

Nii Ayi Bonte II speaking at the presentation commended the Board Chairman of the club, Torgbe Afede II, for the work done so far in his quest to help develop the club.

According to him, there were many challenges, which must be addressed to aid the development of the club.

“We have to come together like the way we used to. When there is an issue in the house there are elderly persons to solve it. These issues are worrying so I’m pleading with everyone to come together to help solve them to build our great club.” 

He urged the players to give their all whenever they find themselves on the pitch as the supporters would also rally behind them to achieve success.

The Gbese Mantse former Chief Executive Officer of the Club and a Board Member tasked the team to prepare well as they head to the Confederations Cup competition.

He added that the team can only deliver the trophy if they prepare well for the competition.

“I want Hearts of Oak to prepare very well and bring the Confederations Cup to Ghana. We were the first Ghanaian club to win the Confederation of African Football Champions League, so let’s all try and bring those memories back. Let’s beat Kotoko to win the champions of champions also, this isn’t the first time and I know we can do it.”

He called for the revival of the various chapters of the club adding, “without the chapters, the management cannot work effectively”.

Mr. Vincent Sowah Odotei, a Board Member of Accra Hearts of Oak and former Member of Parliament for Ladadekotopon Constituency, who led the delegation thanked the Gbese Mantse for his advice and urged that the management of the club to work hard to win more laurels.

Hearts would be representing Ghana in the CAF Confederations Cup and also battle Ghana Premier League winners Asante Kotoko in the Champions of Champions clash on September 4,2022.
