GPL Wk Six: RTU stun Berekum Chelsea, King Faisal stop Kotoko

Match-week six of the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League (GPL) witnessed 16 goals recorded at various match venues.

The top liner of the weekend saw King Faisal hand Asante Kotoko their first defeat of the season in a fascinating five-goal thriller at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

Zubairu Ibrahim scored a hat-trick for Alhaji Grusah’s men to secure a vital 3-2 victory over their city-rival and moved level on points (13) with them at the top of the summit.

Cameroonian striker George Mfegue grabbed a brace for the Porcupine Warriors but it could only serve as consolation for the Porcupine Warriors.

Real Tamale United recorded their first away win of the season when they stunned Berekum Chelsea at their own back yard courtesy a late-gasp strike by David Abagna in second half added time.

It was a second successive win for RTU who now move into sixth position with 10 points and just three points adrift top position.

A second half strike by Fedrick Asante ensured Accra Lions recorded their second win of the season against Eleven Wonders at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

Top scorers of this year’s league Dreams FC continued their impressive home form when they beat Bibiani Gold Stars at Theatre of Dreams in Dawu.

Fatawu Issahaku was once again on target for Dreams FC as Ali Huzuf provided the other strike to ensure a comfortable win for the home side who stayed fifth on the league table.

Aduana Stars recorded their third successive win of the season when they eased past WAFA 3-0 at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park in Dormaa.

Former Kotoko player Emmanuel Gyamfi scored a brace for the ‘Ogyaa Boys’ who moved into third position on the league table.

Ashantigold SC shared the spoils with Legon Cities at the Len Clay Sports Stadium likewise Great Olympics who also held to a goalless draw game by Bechem United.
