Graduates of Hygiene School Demands Jobs From Government

Unpaid Nurses Resume Strike

Over 200 graduates of the School of Hygiene on Monday picketed at the premises of the Employment Ministry to demand postings.

The graduates say they have stayed at home jobless for nearly five years, several pleas for them to be employed have proved futile.

This is the third time the graduates are picketing at government installations after a similar one at the Flagstaff House and the Local Government Ministry.

Speaking to Citi News, spokesperson for the graduates, Prince Dzramado, said government must find them jobs immediately.

“We are here just to know our fate because last year we had a picketing on the same issue of employment and the Minister, Haruna Iddrisu addressed us by promising that by the 1st of January our issues will be resolved.

Unfortunately as we speak, nothing has been done about the issue. We are here just to know whether government is still interested in engaging us, and if it happens that government says it is not interested in our engaging us then we know what to do.”

“…Already, we have signed bonds and that has legal implications. We have fulfilled our part by completing the school; it is government’s responsibility to employ us, if it fails, then that we must be concerned.”

Prince Dzramado said there are about 1,347 of the graduates from the School of Hygiene awaiting postings.
