Great Mawuena Ladies Football Club, would on Friday, December 1, hold its Silver Jubilee Anniversary celebrations at the “DOUBLE H CLUB” opposite Radio Gold FM, Laterbiokoshie, Accra.
In a press statement copied to the GNA Sports and signed by Mr. Francis Kwaku Kudah, founder and secretary of the club, it said the club would begin the celebration with a football match on Sunday, November 26, at the Town Council Line Park in Accra, with former players of the club – Gt. Mawuena Old Ladies.
Mawuena Ladies, has over the years produced national stars like Memunatu Abiba Sulemana, after joining the Greater Accra Women Soccer Committee (GAWSOC) league in 1994 under the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
It said, the club would also confer honours on some former players of the club like Lamin Alhassan, Komnaki Togaba, Eva Lamptey, Fanola Adade, Rev. Miriam Koshie, Maame Blankson and the current team manager Fatima Baah.
A special award would also be conferred on Mr. Komlan Dzoboku Gblokpo, the president of the Togolese Football champions Amin De Monde Football Club.
The release said, special dignitaries Mr. Sylvester Mensah (former Premier League Board chairman), Mr. S.B. Donkor (former Director of operations GAWSOC), Mr. Oteng Aboagye, Mr. Felix Ansong (Co-Founder Liberty Professionals club), superintendent Helina Cobblah, Mrs. Sophia Okuley, madam Leaneir Addy (Chairperson Womens league board GFA) and a host of others including GFA president Kwesi nyantakyi would grace the occasion.
