The ceremony, sponsored by Fiesta Royale Hotel, was on the theme: ?Our Staff: An Essential Part of Ghana Tourism Authority, Revitalizing for Efficiency?.
Mr Charles Osei Bonsu, Acting Executive Director of GTA, said the gesture was also to motivate the staff to work effectively to deliver on the mandate of the authority.
He said the theme was critical because workers played an important role in the improvement of any organisation as well as enhancing its growth in an efficient and effective manner.
Mr Bonsu said the country had witnessed a remarkable increase in the provision of quality hotels and restaurants, car and rental establishments, fast food joints, traditional chop bars and night clubs.
He said management had instituted action to establish staff providence fund and working on a proposal for the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme for workers.
Mr Bonsu said the Authority placed emphasis on building the capacity of its human resource to update their knowledge on current development in the sector to perform effectively.
He urged the award winners not to rest on their ores but work assiduously to lift the image of the industry to a higher pedestal to attract private and foreign investors.
A speech read on behalf of Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, commended management of the Authority for the initiative stressing that it would boost the morale of the workers to give out their best.
Mrs Adjare said the awards ceremony served as a benchmark to inspire others to adopt the positive attitudes, professional work ethics and dedication that should permeate the organisational work culture of the Authority.
She urged the award winners to continue with their commitment to the development of the Authority and its future endeavours.
