Formula E and Google Cloud achieved a Guinness World Record for organizing the largest in-person generative AI hackathon, involving 1,130 participants on the eve of the 2024 Hankook London E-Prix.
This milestone event, powered by Google Cloud’s advanced AI tools, Vertex AI and Gemini 1.5 Flash, showcased the capabilities of these tools in empowering teams to tackle diverse challenges. By leveraging live race data and innovative technologies, these tools played a crucial role in the success of the event.
Participants were granted exclusive access to the final race preparations of 11 elite racing teams during pitlane tours and practice sessions. Ancoris emerged as the standout winner by addressing three challenges, notably developing an innovative podcast agent highlighted by Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds.
The judging panel included Eric Ernst, Formula E’s VP of Technology, John Abel from Google Cloud’s Office of the CTO, and other industry leaders.
