The Northern Regional Security Council has held discussion with representatives of Gulkpegu Palace to amicably settle some misunderstanding which, ensued between the officials of the two institutions during the Independence Day celebration.

A statement issued in Tamale on Wednesday and copied to the Ghana News Agency signed by Mr Bede A. Zeiedeng, Northern Regional Minister said the NRESEC and Gulkpegu representatives reached a common understanding and have agreed to work together to accelerate the development of the region.

It will be recalled that on the 6th March, 2014, the Gukpegu Naa and his entourage were allegedly prevented from using the main entry point into the parade grounds while the parade was ongoing.

The statement said the resistance by security not to allow the chief and his entourage did not go down well with the palace officials and they felt embarrassed.

The statement said to prevent such incidents in future, officials of the two institutions would cooperate during such official ceremonies.

The statement said NRESEC found the incident regrettable. GNA
