Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the temporary closure of the Barekese Water Treatment Plant starting Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

The shutdown is necessary for urgent repairs on a 900mm (36″) transmission line at Breman Ahenfo, which suffered perforation due to drainage construction activities.

The repair work follows damage caused during drainage construction from the Suame roundabout to Breman Ahenfo on July 12, 2024, necessitating immediate attention to restore the transmission line’s integrity.

The shutdown-affected areas include Suame, Tafo/Pankrono, Asokwa, Bantama, Sokoban, Kronum, Barekese, Manhyia, Oforikrom, Kwadaso, Atasamanso, Kotwi, Adum, KNUST, Odoum, Asokore Mampong, and surrounding communities.

GWL has advised customers in these areas to store sufficient water in advance to mitigate inconvenience during the repair period. The company assures the public that the water supply will resume promptly upon completion of the repair work.

GWL apologizes for any inconvenience caused and reaffirms its commitment to ensuring reliable water supply to its customers across affected regions.
