Black Stars? captain, Asamoah Gyan has won his race against fitness to recoup a starting role as Ghana set up a second Group C match with Algeria in Mongomo, Equatorial Guinea later today (Friday).

Gyan, according to information pieced together by GNA Sports has been named among the 11 players for the match which Ghana must win to give her campaign for a fifth Nations Cup glory that spans over three decades a chance.

Coach Avram Grant is said to have abandoned his original 3-5-2 system for the conventional 4-4-2 formation for the match.

Dropped from the starting line-up is Kuban Krasnodar midfielder Rabiu Mohammed, who is replaced by Parma midfielder Afriyie Acquah, expected to partner Emmanuel Agyemang Badu in midfield.

Andre Ayew who captained the last match against Senegal in the absence of Gyan, will be deployed on the flanks alongside Christian Atsu.

Per the formation, Jordan Ayew is expected to support captain, Gyan up front.

Also dropped from the previous starters is Awal Mohammed, with Daniel Amartey, who is making his tournament debut, moved to the heart of central defence alongside Jonathan Mensah.
