Haruna Iddrisu, former Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Tamale South has called on Ghanaians to use the upcoming December 7 general elections to reject the economic policies of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.

Speaking at the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign in Wa, Upper West Region, on Saturday, Iddrisu criticized the current government’s handling of the economy, highlighting the severe economic hardships that have afflicted businesses and worsened living conditions across the country.

Iddrisu condemned the Nana Addo-Bawumia administration for what he described as widespread mismanagement and corruption, which he claims have led to an unprecedented economic crisis.

A vibrant procession preceded the NDC’s regional campaign launch through Wa’s main streets. Supporters marched to the rhythm of drums and carried placards promoting key party policies, including a proposed 24-hour economy.

The procession culminated in a large rally at the Tendaamba School, where the NDC officially launched its Upper West regional campaign.

During the rally, Malik Basintale, the NDC’s Deputy National Communications Officer, criticized government officials for their alleged involvement in corruption and pledged the party’s commitment to advancing women’s empowerment in the next administration.

Mohammed Nasir Saani, NDC’s Upper West regional chairman, urged party members to maintain unity and work collectively to strengthen the party’s position in the region.

The event also introduced the party’s parliamentary candidates for the upcoming elections.
