Headmistress of St. Ann’s Girls Senior High School calls for urgent assistance


St. Ann’s Girls Senior High School was established by ‘Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Sampa.’

Giving the background history of the school during the 5th Anniversary celebration and Inauguration of the School Building, the Headmistress, Rev. Sister Aruna Prassana Kumari, said, despite the significant successes of the school over the period, there are numerous challenges confronting the school which needs urgent attention.

Rev. Sister disclosed that, the school needs 24 unit classroom block to aid the the introduction of new programmes and to admit new student in September next academic year.

She humbly appealed to the Regional Minister, Members of Parliament for Jaman North Hon. DCE and all the stakeholders to support the school to have a dining hall, Dormitory or hostel for the students to help the school to maintain absolute discipline.

However, St. Ann’s Girls Senior High School is running General Arts and Home Economic and lacking Food & Nutrition and Management.

Rev. Sister Aruna Prassana finally advised the male teachers to be very cautious about sexual violence and abuse in the school, since the school is a Girls School.

Rev. Sister explained further to the media that, some parents deny their girl-child access to school because of sexual harassment during educational pursuit and it creates serious emotional and psychological strain on the girl-child.

The teachers, also appealed to the Regional and District Directors of Education, to come to their aid to curb these challenges.
