Heavy rains in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal Province on Sunday resulted in the deaths of five people, with 74 households being destroyed, the provincial government said Monday.
On Sunday, KwaZulu-Natal Province experienced heavy rains with strong winds.
“Five people lost their lives and 14 were reportedly injured. In Mtubatuba, which is under Umkhanyakude District Municipality, 74 households have been damaged by heavy rainfall and strong winds,” the provincial government said in a statement.
The rains also left a trail of destruction in the province, as the power lines, schools and road infrastructure were damaged, according to the statement.
