The items destroyed included computers, electric cables, roofing sheets, chairs, tables and quantities of teaching and learning materials (TLM).

Conducting newsmen around the edifice to access the extent of damage, the Administrator of the facility, Mr Kwame Niampong Adjei, said the multipurpose centre served as an academic hub for training and grooming teachers to achieve excellence in their areas of expertise.

He said the Centre also played host to training programmes for other adjoining districts and has trained over 500 professional teachers since its establishment five years ago.

He indicated that the disaster was the second in one month to hit the Centre and appealed to all well wishers especially the District Assembly to come to their aid.

Mr. Jacob Asoppia, Assemblyman of the area, described the impact of the rainstorm as ‘devastating’ and said more than 15 houses including a kindergarten block belonging to Juaso M/A Basic school were destroyed.
