The Health Education & Life Protection (HELP) Foundation, a Central Region based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) with an interest in promoting health has initiated a move to provide free medical screening exercise and education for people in Ghana.
Type of conditions to be screened includes the silent killers Hypertension, diabetes and hepatitis B. Body Mass Index (BMI) will also be calculated to help rule out Obesity.
The exercise forms part of the NGO?s Community outreach programme aimed at bringing joy to the helpless and the need to enable them gain interest in their own health and take active part in promoting it.
In an interview with Spy News agency, Founder and Executive Director of HELP, Mr. Onipanua Hukporty Derrick, said the target group for the exercise was people above age 40 from rural communities who often do not have easy access to health facilities.
Already, Hundreds of Elderly at Ankaful in the Central Region have benefited from the free medical screening exercise. Mr. Onipanua Hukporty said the exercise is on pilot basis and areas like Twifo Hemang, Assin Manso, Ayensudo among other districts in the Central Region will benefit from the exercise. He describe the exercise was timely and appropriate considering the untold hardship in the country which has disabled many people and denied them access to medical assistance.
Mr. Onipanua used the opportunity to encourage people to frequently visit the NGO?s website (http://www.helpgh.org/) for daily health tips and also continue to follow the NGO?s project named ?MEDICAL NOTE? on all social media platforms. It is aimed at providing free daily health education for all.
