The annual rate of inflation for Ghana increased 0.1 percentage point to 7.8 percent in February, compared with the 7.7 percent recorded in the previous month, the country’s economic data managers have said.
According to the deputy government statistician, David Kombat, the main cause of the relatively higher inflation rate in February was higher food inflation during the month under review.
“The food and non-alcoholic beverages group recorded an inflation rate of 7.9 percent, which was a percentage point higher than the 7.8 percent recorded in January,” Kombat said.
The non-food sub-class, on the other hand, recorded an inflation rate of 7.7 percent in February, compared with the 7.9 percent recorded a month earlier.
