The home grounds for newly crowned Ghana Premier League (GPL) winners Aduana Stars, is set to receive a facelift as the club prepare to meet the Confederation of African Football (CAF) mandatory standard stadiums continental competitions.
Aduana Stars, who play their home matches at the Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro, would not be able to use the pitch as it has been closed for renovation.
In an interview with GNA Sports, Mr. Elvis Osei Poku, a Management Member and a Deputy Greater Accra Representative for the club noted that the closure was to conform to CAF’s regulations.
“Per the CAF Champions league standards, we needed to close the stadium for work to be done in the stands and on the playing pitch.
“The sitting capacity would also be upgraded to accommodate more fans as we prepare to embark on the CAF championship journey”.
According to Mr. Osei Poku, the facelift and work would be completed on time to avert any situation of playing at an alternative venue.
“The stadium would be closed for a maximum of two months and we are going to do everything possible to finish before the tournament commences. Money is not an issue to Dormaahene,” he added.
Aduana Stars would represent Ghana in the 2018 CAF champions’ league that would run from February to November 2018, for winning the 2016/2017 Ghana premier league season.
