Homowo Festival: MTN  Donates to La Traditional Area

MTN Ghana has donated to the Office of the La Traditional Area in support of this year’s Homowo festival.

The donation was part of the company’s ongoing commitment to promoting Ghanaian culture and strengthening ties with the communities it serves.

The Chief Customer Relations Officer of MTN Ghana, Jemima K. Walsh, who led the team to donate the items to the   La Traditional Area highlighted the importance of culture in the company’s operations, noting, “As an organization with African origins, MTN fully acknowledges the role of culture in our development.

Each year, we commit resources and partner with various Traditional Councils across the country to promote Ghanaian culture through festival celebrations.

As part of our support for the Homowo festival, MTN Ghana we are here to present a cheque for GH¢10,000.00, MTN Airtime worth GH¢1,000.00, and a drinks hamper to the La Traditional Area, “she stated.

Additionally, to enhance customer experience during the festivities, MTN will set up experience centers at strategic locations to address customer needs and resolve any issues.

Walsh emphasized the company’s dedication to fostering stronger relationships with its customers during the festival.

“We hope that through this festival, we will be able to strengthen our relationship with our customers in this area and help resolve some of their issues,” she said.

She also mentioned plans to educate the public on mobile money (MoMo) fraud, the dangers of using pre-registered SIM cards, and the importance of keeping personal devices and information secure.

MTN Ghana also took the opportunity to remind customers to verify and confirm the SIM numbers linked to their Ghana cards by dialing *402#. Customers are encouraged to report any unauthorized numbers linked to their Ghana Card for delinking and deactivation.

In addition, Walsh informed the La Traditional Council of MTN Ghana’s ongoing network upgrade across the country.

The upgrade, which began in June 2024 and is expected to be completed by September 2024, involves replacing existing mobile network infrastructure with more efficient and environmentally friendly equipment.

“This upgrade will ensure a more reliable and robust network, helping to achieve network virtualization and increased capacity for optimum service delivery,” she added.

The company also expressed its gratitude to the La Traditional Area for their continued support.

“Our support today affirms our appreciation for your patronage and loyalty to MTN. We thank you once again for your continued support of our activities and for the warm reception we have received,” she added.

Nii Adjei Koofeh (IV) La Shikitele who received the donation on behalf of Traditional Area expressed gratitude to MTN for its steadfast support over the years. The Council also thanked the MTN team for keeping them updated on the network upgrade.
