Huawei Launches Pura 70 Series in South Africa

Huawei, the renowned Chinese telecommunications giant, has announced the launch of its latest flagship smartphones, the Huawei Pura 70 series, in South Africa.

This release comes with immediate availability, offering consumers a range of high-specification models starting at a recommended retail price of $1,055.

The Pura 70 series replaces Huawei’s P-series devices and represents a significant step in the company’s smartphone lineup, especially in regions where previous models faced challenges due to US sanctions. These sanctions limited Huawei’s access to Google services, including the Play Store, impacting the availability of some earlier P-series models in South Africa.

Continuing Huawei’s tradition of excellence in smartphone photography, the Pura 70 series features cutting-edge camera technology. Despite restrictions on purchasing high-end silicon from US vendors like Qualcomm, Huawei has equipped these devices with a Chinese-made system-on-chip.

The Huawei Pura 70 series is available for purchase both through South African mobile operators on contract and directly from Huawei. For those opting to buy without subsidies, the pricing is as follows:

  • Huawei Pura 70: $1,055
  • Huawei Pura 70 Pro: $1,425
  • Huawei Pura 70 Ultra: $1,848

The top-of-the-line Ultra model boasts an impressive 512GB of storage paired with 16GB of RAM. As an added incentive, all models in the Pura 70 series come with a complimentary MatePad SE tablet, offering consumers an integrated Huawei ecosystem experience.
