Atl?tico Madrid forward Ra?l Garc?a was amused to see his team draw AC Milan in the Champions League, particularly after their player Sulley Muntari had suggested that the Spanish side, were the weakest remaining in the competition.
Following the Champions League draw on Monday, Atl?tico Madrid forward Ra?l Garc?a was delighted that his team were drawn against Italian giants AC Milan, but when it comes to choosing a favourite, felt that it will be a very even tie.
?They?re one of those mythical teams that everyone wants to play against, but there?s still plenty of time before the games arrive. We?re confident in what we?re doing and we know we can get through this tie. Favourites? It?s fifty-fifty.?
AC Milan?s Sulley Muntari had suggested prior to the draw that Atl?tico Madrid were possibly the weakest of opponents in the knock-out stage, hoping they would get the Spanish side. Asked for a response to that after the draw, Ra?l Garc?a smiled as he suggested his own team are up to the challenge that awaits them.
?We know that people have a lot of respect for us. Muntari has said he?d prefer to get us and well, he?s got what he wants now and they?ll have to beat us if they want to get into the next round.?
Ra?l Garc?a further expressed his confidence in the chances for Atl?tico, aware that whilst the first-leg in Milan will be tough, it will be equally so for their opponents at the Vicente Calder?n in the second-leg, which he believes gives the Madrid club a slight advantage.
?We?re confident in ourselves. I think the team knows how to play over two legs. We?re a tough team to beat. We?ve already shown well enough what we can do and be it Milan or anyone else, we?ll stand up to them for sure. We?ll go into the first-leg with the aim of doing well and getting a good result, logically knowing that playing the second-leg at home, that?s a point in our favour.?
