Member of Parliament(MP) for Ablekuma south Hon Alfred Oko Vanderpuije has quelled all rumours that have suggested that there’s bad blood between him and former President Rawlings.
In an exclusive interview on Metro TV’s flagship programme, ‘the Honouraable’, the maverick lawmaker stated that he has no Problem or whatsoever with Former President J.J Rawlings contrary to popular belief but rather he is his political inspiration.
It would be recalled that during President Mahama’s last state of the Nation’s address on 5th January 2017 in parliament, a video of honourable Alfred Oko Vanderpuije trying to interact with former President Jerry John Rawlings went viral after the former mayor was snubbed by Jerry Rawlings when the former attempted to greet him while the two were walking to enter the chamber of Parliament to listen to the immediate past President John Dramani Mahama deliver his message on the State of the Nation.
Responding to a question whether that incident was occasioned by an existing rift between him and the former President, Honourable Alfred Oko Vanderpuije said “if there is any commitment in Oko to serve in Public Life Politically, the source of that is our former President and founder of NDC, I started with Rawlings in 1979.
During AFRC before PNDC, so my training, my undertakings and everything to be where I am today, started with inspirations from Rawlings”.
On his impact In his constituency, Ablekuma south,Honourable Oko Vanderpuije indicated that he ended the shifting system in Accra when he became a member of Parliament(MP) in the Ablekuma South constituency and has been working with the Headteachers and the teachers in the constituency by providing them with Furniture, as well as teaching and learning materials.
He also stated that he sponsors vacation classes for the students during the long vacations and so far over 4,000 students have benefitted from the programme.
Additionally, Hon Alfred Oko Vanderpuije said he established the TSENTSE SKILL DEVELOPMENT CENTER to train the youth in the constituency with the skills to make them self reliant.
NDC WILL RETURN
Honourable Oko vanderpuije stated emphatically that the National Democratic Party(NDC) under the leadership of the Former President John Dramani Mahama would come back to power in 2021.
“We know that in the 2016 elections there were several accusations of corruption that were labeled against the NDC and John Dramani Mahama on that there were several promises that were made by the NPP under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo Okay so we went through the elections and the NPP won the elections. Okay.
It is one thing to promise the people, make allegations against the party in power and it’s another thing now to have the seat of government, have the opportunity and you cannot deliver”.
