Rising Ghanaian musician Kweku Darlington says he represents hiplife music in Gnana and will continue work hard to sustain the genre in the country.

The Hiplife music movement which fuses Ghanaian culture and hip hop started in the late 90’s in Ghana and have since gained popularity around the world.

According to Kweku Darlington, the hiplife genre in recent years had lost its originality especially with the emergence of Afrobeats, which according to him was different from hiplife music.

“I am a proud Hiplife artiste. It has been in my genes for a very long time. Actually, listening to hiplife music was the inspiration behind choosing music as a career.

“I want to sustain the hiplife genre by doing more songs and I would never depart from doing hiplife because it is part of our music heritage,” he said in an interview.

The “Sika Aba Fie ” hitmaker added: “It is quite sad how many musicians are departing from hiplife music by doing other foreign genres. But for me I represent hiplife music because of the impact it has had on my music career.”

Kweku Darlington is set to release his next song mid February having made waves with “Sika Kankan”, “Aketesia”, among others.
