Iceland to support Lebanon in dealing with Syrian refugees crisis

Iceland's visiting Prime Minister Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson said on Monday that his country is prepared to support Lebanon in dealing with its Syrian refugees crisis, reported the National News Agency (NNA).


“We have been engrossed by the manner with which Lebanon has addressed this issue. Our visit is crucial since we need to know how to help,” Gunnlaugsson said following a meeting with House Speaker Nabih Berri.

Referring to the international conference in London next month, Gunnlaugsson said that his aim by visiting Lebanon, was to “collect data in order to best deal with this matter during the conference.”

Lebanon is hosting over 1.1 million Syrian refugees who are registered with the United Nations Higher Commission for Refugees. Enditem
