Peter-Obi-Governor-of-Anambra-State-400x400The recent politics of defection by top politicians across the country who cross-carpet from one party to another in pursuit of better advantage to ventilate their aspirations appear to be dominating the entire political scene now, with the latest being two notable All Progressives Congress(APC) Chieftains, Nuhu Ribadu and Chief Tom Okimi who few days ago defected to PDP they once vilified in the past.
>
> Observers now believe that PDP appear ready to eclipse other parties as it is gaining more ground from the defection season, just as more people are coming into it from other parties particularly from the main opposition the APC
>
> Recall that few weeks ago the ruling party received into its umbrella about four members of National Assembly members? from Anambra state and three members of Anambra state House of Assembly who defected to the party from APGA, APC and Labour Party respectively.
>
> A reliable Labour Party source has just indicated that popular oil and gas magnet Dr Ifeanyi Uba who ran for the Nov 16,2013 Anambra governorship election on the platform of the Labour Party and the former Governor of Anambra state Chief Peter Obi are intensely being wooed by the PDP.
>
> According to the source, PDP is wooing the duo believing they have collectively and individually shown soft spots and interests in her affairs long enough they needed reciprocity. More so, following their physical presence at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Park in Awka during the recent Pro Jonathan Southeast zonal rally organized by the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN); there, they were said to have had a good time with leaders of the ruling party who attended the gathering. It was even rumored they were prepared to make the announcement official that day at the rally.
>
> Ubah according to the source had a very heart warming pleasantries and fruitful interactions with Southeast PDP leaders led by Engr Arthur Eze, Secretary to Government of the Federation, Chief Anyim Pius,? Chairman Southeast Governors Forum and Governor of Abia state Chief Theodore Orji amongst others.
>
> Chief Valentine Odogwu, a PDP chieftain in an interview in Awka yesterday told journalists that top members of the party used the opportunity to make serious attempt to lure the wealthy men to the ruling party to fulfill all righteousness as both of them have been very friendly with the party, especially through the presidency all along.
>
> According to Odogwu, “I was a witness, the PDP leaders which include Governor Orji, Deputy Speaker Ihedioha, SGF Senator Anyim Pius, Senator Ben Ndii Obi, Senator Andy Uba, chief Charles Odedo and others had separate interactions with Capital Oil Boss and former Governor Obi and the issue of joining the PDP was the focal point of the interaction.”
>
> Our correspondent further learnt that the interest of the Southeast PDP to have Dr Uba in particular is not unconnected with his massive support for Jonathan’s reelection and TAN activities. TAN is a non Governmental Organization said to be heavily financed and driven by well wishes of President Jonathan.
