IGP Ignores Parliament, Sends Kenyase Report To Minister


Though directed to present a?report?on the February 3 clash between police and demonstrators in Kenyase and Duase to Parliament, the?Inspector General?of Police (IGP) has rather sent his report to the minister of interior.

IGP Mohammed Ahmed AlhassanIGP?Mohammed?Ahmed Alhassan was given two weeks by?Speaker?Edward Doe Adjaho last month to report to the House on circumstances that?led?to the clash in the Ashanti Region.

But after four weeks, nothing was heard on the Speaker?s order,?prompting?the?Member of Parliament?for Kwabre East Constituency, Kofi Frempong, to find out what has become of the matter.

?Mr Speaker, two weeks has?elapsed?and we are in the fourth week,? Mr Frempong stated on the?flooron Friday. ?My people have not heard anything about it,? he stressed.

The Speaker, however, disclosed that the IGP has rather sent the report to the?Ministry?of Interior.

?The latest information is that the IGP has submitted the report to the minister of interior because he has no?audience?on the floor of this House which, in my view, is proper,? Speaker Doe Adjaho answered.
