A 21 year-old illegal miner, Akwasi Donkor has been granted 3,000.00 Ghana cedis bail with a surety to be justified by the Tarkwa circuit court for robbery.

He pleaded not guilty to the charge and the case adjourned to Thursday June 1.

The Prosecutor, Detective Inspector Clement Amoah, told the court, presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew, that the complainant, is the manager of Akonta small scale company at Kwahu Abusam, near Enchi.

He said on November 9, last year, the accused person and his accomplices named Lion, Kwabena Asare and Kwadwo Obeng planned to rob the complainant.

The Prosecution said the accused and his accomplices attacked the miners with cutlasses and made away with one pump action gun and 300 grams of gold dust worth 1,500 Ghana cedis.

He said upon a tip-off Donkor was identified to the police as one of the robbers and was later arrested from his hideout he then mentioned the three as his accomplices who he said escaped after the robbery.
