The Imo State House of Assembly, led by Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu reviewed its performance within three years in office and gave itself a pass mark, saying that it recorded unprecedented feat.

It said that during the period in focus, ground-breaking laws and motions totaling above two hundred were enacted for the good of Imolites.

The Senior Special Assistant to Speaker on media Mr. Emeka Ahaneku , gave the Rt.Hon Speaker, Benjamin Uwajumogu?s??score card for three years in a statement he made available to Imo State House of Assembly correspondents??in Owerri.

Ahaneku, noted that contrary to impressions being created by some members of the opposition, Imo State legislature under Rt. Hon. Benjamin Chukwuemeka Uwajumogu??has moved significantly forward in many aspects??than it was in 2011.

He?said, that the peaceful and people oriented style of legislation adopted by the Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu?s??led House of Assembly has produced life changing??and enabling laws which has visibly aided the??transformation that??has??taken place in the economy, transportation, health, agriculture, education, infrastructure. Rural road network, urban renewal of Okigwe, Owerri and Orlu , and other critical sectors in the State.

According to Ahaneku ?It is an incontrovertible fact that the Imo State House of Assembly under the Rt. Hon Benjamin??Uwajumogu in its resolve to take Imo to a greater height,??has wiped – out corruption in??Imo legislature and encouraged accountability and probity??by discouraging?financial inducement or influence in passage of bills, screening of political appointees, committee work and oversight??functions.

?For the first time since the latest democratic experience, the dilapidated symbol of Imo legislature and gigantic structure that housed the legislative arm of government in Imo State, built by Dee Sam Mbakwe underwent full renovation and repackaging with state of the arts facilities, today the Uwajumogu led House of Assembly?s commitment to human capital development through passage of laws, oversight functions and interventions has stated yielding results. The Imo State agricultural sector is attracting unprecedented private Investment support. Over the past?three years, the sector has attracted billions in private sector executed letters of commitment to invest in agricultural value chains, from palm oil to food crops, export crops, to fisheries and livestock.

?The anti kidnap law, the CGC law and other relevant laws on security enacted by the Uwajumogu??led House has within three years,??owing to??the support of the executive and the security agencies??restored??people and investors confidence in the security of life and property in the state. The number of private sector investments grew from 10 to 70 percent within three years. Over 7 billion naira of new investments has been recorded in the hospitality industry in the state. It is also noteworthy that the Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu led House has distinguished itself as the first House of Assembly in the??African region??to enact a law making education free up to tertiary level ?.

On oversight functions, the senior Special Assistant on media explained that?during the period in focus the IMHA equally excelled in oversight duties. In tandem with the Rescue Mission road revolution scheme the house empanelled the Hon Stan Dara led state / local government project monitoring team and empowered it to visit all the 27 councils of the state. Fully aware of the place of rural development in the developmental blue print of the government the committee swiftly swung into action and toured the nooks and crannies of the state. A daunting tasks no doubt but the team nonetheless, executed it with precision.

???? As at this moment the good work done by the house committee could be seen in the massive road revolution in the state. There is hardly any council of the state that has not taken delivery of at least 15 kilometers of asphalted road. Some like Ngor_okpala and owerri North are believed to have overshot their own share of the road project. Statistic on the whole show that with in the tree years this government has been in power over 400hundred kilometers of road has been asphalted.? This impressive performance notwithstanding, the government has consistently declared that its target is 1500 kilometers of road in four years. To cynics this may sound incredulous but those who have been opportuned to listen at close quarters to Gov okorocha insist rather strongly that the target has being surpassed he said.
