The Imo State government is set to partner with world class investors from the United State of America to generate alternative solar powered energy for the citizens of the State.
The Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu, dropped this cheering news when the Rector, Imo State polytechnic, Uwuagwo, together with the Management Staff of the institution paid him a courtesy visit in his office.
?He explained that the investors who will partner and train students of Imo State University and the State Polytechnic are also expected to build power plants in the institution with the aim of assembling solar panels for power generation through renewable energy in the State.
?He said the company when functional will within six months produce an advantageous alternative to the popular; ?? I pass my neighbor generating set?? that will be affordable and safer to use by Imolites.
Rt. Hon. Uwajumogu, who welcomed the Management Staff of the institution, commended the Rector for giving the Polytechnic a face lift in the areas of infrastructural development, as well as, quality teaching and learning within his short period of time in office.
?He also thanked the Rector for citing a campus of the institution at Umunakanu in Ehime Mbano Local Government area, Maintaing that such gesture would guarantee window of opportunities to intelligent citizens of the State in securing admission for courses of their choice.
?The Speaker who further stressed the importance of education in the life of every Child, Stated that it was in keeping to that philosophy that the Imo State House of Assembly, being the first in the country took the bull by the horn in giving an accelerative passage to the free education bill up to tertiary level,??which is being enjoyed by citizens of the State at all levels.
?He made it clear that the State House of Assembly, in its effort to enthrone transparency and integrity in its legislative businesses has never solicited for any gratification from any individual or group, as well as, in the passage of any bill or the budget in the course of its assigned duties.
?On the 2014 budget of the State which is awaiting passage, the Speaker assured people of the State that the budget would be given speedy attention as soon as the committee handling it is ready.
?Earlier in his speech, the Rector, Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, Rev.?Dr. Whence Madu,who thanked members of the State House of Assembly for giving the education sector of the State a boost through people Oriented legislation, especially the free education policy of the State government, pointed out that such laudable legislation and decisions of the House have impacted positively on the affairs of the institution.??
The Rector, further commended the sterling qualities of the Speaker in handling the affairs of the Assembly, maintaining that his doggedness in stirring the ship of the House across political party line was unprecedented.
?He informed the Speaker that the institution has embarked on the performance of rudimentary duties which is aimed at upgrading the quality of their staff strength to maintain global best practices in the quality of teaching and learning.

Dr. Whence?also pledged the readiness of the institution to partner closely with the state House of Assembly to chart a better course for the citizens of the state.
