In One Term Big Boss Has Lost Three Students

Cerebro Spinal Meningitis

The Bolgatanga Senior High School (Big Boss) has lost three students in the second term of the academic year, creating panic among the students.

Master Jeffrey Apuusi, a first year student, is the third student to die on March 12, 2018, at the Afikids hospital in Bolgatanga, Upper East Region, where he was rushed to when he fell sick in school.

Mr Vitus Angkyire, the Assistant Headmaster in charge of Administration who confirmed the death to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), indicated that a friend of the deceased reported the illness to school authorities and he was taken to the hospital for treatment but died afterwards.

He said the student suffered from severe dehydration and efforts of the health personnel could not save him.

He urged the students to report to the school authorities anytime they noticed unusual symptoms in their bodies and did not feel well so that they could be sent to the hospital on time for the right treatment.

Dehydration occurs when one loses more fluid than he or she takes in and the body doesn’t have enough water and other fluids to carry out its normal functions.

The student was buried on Wednesday in his hometown, Chaina in the Kassena Nankana West District of the Upper East Region.

Two other students of the school had earlier died of suspected Meningitis.
