Mrs. Doreen Annan, Acting Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior, has expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI) for incorporating the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) into its Business Regulatory Reforms initiative.
Speaking at a Public-Private Dialogue and a knowledge-sharing session on Development Permit Administration, Mrs Annan highlighted the technical support provided by the initiative, which has facilitated the upgrade of the GNFS website and the development of the Fire Safety Permit and Certification Management System (FSP&CMS).
The FSP&CMS is designed to automate and decentralize fire opinion reports, final approvals, and certification processes.
184 GNFS officers nationwide have been trained to utilize the new system.
Mrs Annan underscored the significance of leveraging technology to enhance service delivery and align with international standards.
She also emphasized the need for comprehensive education and public awareness regarding the new fire certificate application system.
The event, hosted by MOTI at the Office of the Head of Local Government Service, was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, the Ministry of Land and Natural Resources, and the Ghana Institute of Architects.
The Business Regulatory Reforms initiative aims to establish Ghana as the most business-friendly economy in Africa.
The Ministry of the Interior has pledged its support for the initiative, acknowledging its role in the country’s socio-economic development.
