Created and hosted by 360PR, the Cocktail Conference is the newest lifestyle event to hit Accra. Built on the theory man cannot live on Mojito (or Long Island) alone, the Cocktail Conference is a fun interactive way to introduce people to the wide variety of cocktails available in the world.

In each class, participants learn the basic theories of cocktail making (what to mix and not mix), the history of certain cocktails (despite popular belief Tom Collins is not a person) and how to incorporate local liquor into international cocktails. Participants also get an opportunity to mix the drinks discussed during the class, giving them the power to make great cocktails anytime, anywhere.

Each month is a different theme and each theme has three different recipes on order. This month, participants will learn color layering and learn how to make drinks in the color of the Ghanaian flag just in time for Ghana?s World Cup games! Participants will also learn to make the U.S. and U.K flag for upcoming national holidays.

Cordie Aziz, creator of the event says the Cocktail Conference empowers people to have choice in the cocktails they drink since participants learn to make the drinks themselves.

?The great thing about the Cocktail Conference is not only do you get a chance to learn about cocktails, but you get a chance to make them. This means you can go to any bar in the city and tell them what drink you want and help them make it. It also makes entertaining at home more lively since now you have more combinations than just rum and coke or vodka and juice,? she said.

To keep the classes interactive and informative each class is limited to 18 people. Tickets are just GHS65 and include 3 drinks, small chops and lessons. Tickets must also be purchased in advance. There are NO tickets at the door. You can check Cocktail Conference?s Facebook page, cocktailconferencegh, to get a full schedule of activities.
