… Businessmen Who Use Aflao Border Ask

CEPS
“Is the government of President John Dramani Mahama actually committed to the fight against corruption that has eaten deep into state institutions?”

This, has been the question many people including businessmen and women who use the Aflao border as business entry point continue to ask.

Indeed the confidence people repose in the NDC-led administration, which has promised to fight corruption with all its arsenals, is gradually waning as people, especially Aflao residents, say the lackadaisical attitude being exhibited by government and its agencies towards relevant issues that have come into the media domain, will cause the party’s defeat in the coming elections.

They are still harboring displeasures against government for not doing anything about Hope Sodzinshie, a CEPS officer at the Aflao border, whose issues have been in the news for the past two months.
There is no doubt that new hurdles have emerged that appears to have showed how state institutions who are mandated to investigate illegalities have refused to do so.

They mentioned that a case such as that of Hope Sodzinshie, should not be allowed to travel for long, since Hope Sodzinshie is still at post with his usual intimidating behaviour.
Speaking to a businessman at the border, he had this to say, “Nobody could tell a blind man, there is no salt in the soup. This has been in the media and in fact this is not the time for us to be telling government. They know about this, they are just trying to be careless.”

“…. what I can say as a citizen of Ghana and a businessman who uses the Aflao border frequently, and have to contend with Hope Sodzinshie’s inhumane treatment, is that state institutions which are mandated to investigate, thus if any investigation is called for this, to be independent. We need peace whiles we do our businesses.”
Others have also noted that the indiscriminate acts corruption by state institutions is killing innocent citizens of this country, and that corruption is moral obscenity and by any standard, inexcusable and despite the excuse that some people who have been trusted with authority over these people to turn a blind eye to the happenings, that will only affect the government in the coming elections.

Still, the question remains, where is the notorious objectivity and commitment to fight corruption in this country?
“You ask me I will say, I don’t see any Integrity,” another businessman said grudgingly.
The people of this country .business men and women, indeed, who uses the Aflao as business entry point deserve justice and peace, and are vehemently calling on government to investigate the Aflao CEPS-SodznshieGate Scandal to prove how committed they are to the fight against corruption.
