Ghana Winger Ishmael Yartey Completes Sion Move
Ghana winger Ishmael Yartey has signed a four-year contract with FC Sion to return to the Swiss Super League, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively confirm.
The 23-year-old joins from French Ligue 1 side FC Sochaux after cancelling his five-year contract with the club following a turbulent first season.
The former SL Benfica starlet passed medicals and officially signed the deal on Monday morning.
Sion have always maintain their interest in the influential winger following his exploits with FC Servette two seasons ago and came close to signing him but Sochaux beat them to him after paying 3 million Euros to Benfica.
Michel Decastel, the Sion coach, made the former Ghana U17 winger his main target after being appointed head coach of the club.
Club President Christian Constantin is a long-standing admirer of Yartey and managed to convince his Sochaux counterpart to allow the winger to move to Geneva.
