Ivory Coast will have the oppourtunity this evening to win Africa its first three points at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil when they face off against Japan on Saturday.

The Elephants led by Didier Drogba will go head-to-head against Japan at the Arena Pernambuco, Recife, in their Group C opener.

The Blue Samurai holds a better record against Ivory Coast in matches played between the two teams (Japan 2 wins) and (Ivory Coast 1 win)

In other matches: Cameroon, The first African side to take the field at the 2014 World Cup lost 1-0 to Mexico on Friday in a rainy day encounter.
Cameroon play thier next match against Croatia in a must win situation on June 18.

Ghana and Nigeria will play their openers on Monday against USA and Iran respectively.

Another African side Algeria will open their campaign on Tuesday against Belgium.
