Jacob?s Well Appeal Ghana, a local Non-Governmental Non-Profit Organization in conjunction with its parent organization Jacob?s Well in the UK has donated health commodities worth ?80, 816.321 to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.

The donated items consist of medical supplies, essential medicines, education materials including medical journals and reference books, hygiene products and nutritional food items.
Making the presentation, the Country Director of Jocob?s Well Ghana Appeal, Sandra Scantlebury, said her organization is committed to mobilizing humanitarian support for deprived communities and has been engaging in the supply of medical equipment and medicines to support the development of healthcare delivery in the country since 2012.
According to the Country Director, Jacob?s Well in 2014 alone provided five 40ft containers of medical supplies worth over ?386,733.04 to five hospitals in Ghana namely Hohoe Municipal Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, Wa Regional Hospital and Tamale Teaching Hospital. She said the organization was happy to extend its charity to the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital and to support quality health care delivery for the population.
The Regional Director of Health Services Dr. Koku Awoonor-Williams who received the donation thanked Jacob?s Well Ghana and UK for the generous support and indicated that the items will be shared with other district hospitals in the region. Dr. Awoonor-Williams described the donation as very important and timely saying the recent fire disaster at the Central Medical Stores of the Ministry of Health has brought a lot challenges with health commodity supply hence the donated items have brought a lot of relief to the facilities. He took the opportunity to appeal for more donations including energy products and computers to support various activities of the facilities including patient care and logistics management for quality improvement.
Speaking in an interview, the Medical Director of the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital Dr. Peter Baffoe expressed his appreciation to Jacob?s Well for the donation and assured the Country Director of the judicious use of the donations.
